This National Day, Winston Engineering brought the spirit of SG61 right into the office with a company-wide team challenge.

The Challenge

Armed with cardboard, bottles, and whatever recyclables they could find, each team had to reconstruct a piece of Singapore’s landmark — and then pitch their creation to the room in the most memorable way possible. Engineering skills met stage presence, and the results were as entertaining as they were impressive.

Three Teams, Three Landmarks, Three Styles of Presentation

Team Richard took on an ambitious multi-landmark build — recreating Marina Bay Sands, the ArtScience Museum, and Gardens by the Bay — and brought it all together with a live skit that turned their presentation into a mini theatrical performance, having the audience laughing and cheering from start to finish.

Team George rebuilt Changi Airport out of recycled materials and brought the energy with a singing and dancing routine, blending rhythm and recycled craftsmanship into a colourful, high-spirited showcase.

Team Henry recreated Gardens by the Bay and kept their presentation simple and fun with a dance performance, letting their moves do the talking alongside their landmark build.

And the Winner Is…

After much deliberation (and plenty of applause), Team Richard was crowned the winner of this round, thanks to their ambitious triple build of Marina Bay Sands, the ArtScience Museum, and Gardens by the Bay, paired with a standout live skit that combined creativity, teamwork, and a great sense of humour.

More Than Just a Competition

Beyond the friendly rivalry, the SG61 celebration was a reminder of what makes WEC’s culture special — colleagues coming together, having fun, and celebrating Singapore’s birthday as one team. From engineering pumps and blowers by day to building landmarks out of recyclables for National Day, WEC continues to prove that great teamwork looks good in every form.

Happy SG61, Singapore — and congratulations to all three teams for a fantastic showing!
